NEW RECYCLING TOTES

By mmzoning

Allied is in the process of delivering totes through out the Township.  These blue and yellow totes are for recycling.   Next recycling pickup will be Thursday (March 11) and will continue every other week thereafter.

By using the new carts it will provide over 3 times as much room for recyclables.  It prevents the spread of recyclables in our neighborhoods by animals and wind.  The yellow lid is for easy identification.

By picking up every other week, this will help reduce the wear and tear on the roadways, reduce the emissions and will help to make the process of recycling greener.  They will take the same recyclable materials they have taken in the past.  So recycle and do your part.

Your trash pickup day is the same (Thursday)  Picking up recycling everyother week same day.

Put out your recycling with your trash on the following dates:

March: 11  &  25          April: 8 and 22         May: 6 and 20         June:  3 and 17         July: 1 and 15 and 29

Enrollment Opens Again for Homestead Program

Homeowners Turning 65 in 2010 Have Until June 7th to Signup

Date:  January 4th, 2010

Contact:  Sam Braun       224-8722

Homeowners who turn 65 at any point in 2010 are now eligible for the Homestead program and are encouraged to sign up with the Montgomery County Auditor.  Enrollment is now open until June 7th and applications are available in the Auditor’s office or by calling 225-4341.

The Homestead exemption program brings property tax relief to homeowners age 65 and older and the permanently disabled.   There are no longer any income requirements, but newly eligible recipients (those turning 65 any time in 2009) must sign up with the Auditor’s office.  Homeowners already enrolled in Homestead do not need to reapply.

“We want all eligible senior homeowners to take advantage of this tax break,” said Auditor Keith.  Last year the average homestead recipient in Montgomery County saved over $500 on their tax bill.”

Qualified applicants who missed last year’s deadline may also sign up before June 7th and still get a reduction on last year’s taxes, as well as this year’s.  Current homestead recipients do not need to reapply or do anything unless they have moved or had some change in their status.

Potential new applicants are encouraged to call 225-4341 or log on to www.mcauditor.org for more information.

BAD WEATHER AND SNOW INFORMATION

By mmzoning

This information comes from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s office

  • Snow/Ice Emergency Information Line

Call 496-SNOW to find out if a snow emergency has been issued or revised. Please do not contact our Communications Center unless an emergency exists. An overload of calls may contribute to an inability to receive and process emergency calls .

The Ohio Attorney General Opinion 86-023 allows a county sheriff to declare a snow emergency and temporarily close county and township roads within his jurisdiction for the preservation of the public peace.

LEVEL 1: Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads are also icy. Drive very cautiously.

LEVEL 2: Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Only those who feel it is necessary to drive should be out on the roadways. Contact your employer to see if you should report to work.

LEVEL 3: All roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel. No one should be out during these conditions unless it is absolutely necessary to travel. All employees should contact their employer to see if they should report to work. However, those traveling on the roadways may subject themselves to prosecution.
